Medical Insurance Card in CZ?
This information is really hard to be found on internet. Eventually if you find something the info will be quite controversial. Well, if you are an American tourist then you should know that according to the Schengen Agreement you have the right to visit CZ for 90 days (of course without any visa) but you have to have medical insurance. Ive been to many countries all over the world during my life but Ive never noticed such a strange requirement. Many tourists change planes in Czech Republic and Im not quite sure that all of them have medical insurances but one thing is certain ” the fees are really solid if you lack one. So my personal recommendation is to get one if you are planning to go to CZ. To tell you the truth I havent heard a USA citizen being asked if he/she has a medical insurance so far.
My personal opinion is to make a medical insurance and bring the proof with you because you may have some serious problems. By the way I just remembered one story with a friend of mine in USA. And believe it or not but he shared that finding San Francisco apartment is easier than finding an Apartment Los Angeles and Miami apartment . A few years ago he was in front of the same dilemma ” should he make a medical insurance since he is only changing planes in Prague. Well, he didnt and he had some serious issues in the airport because of its lack.
On the other hand is really nice to have a medical insurance because if you got ill how are you going to pay for your treatment. I would advice you to make one and have cover for every country you are intending to visit because it is useful. Dont thing about the money because health is first. And remember to always bring it with you.
Anyway Im still wondering why CZ is different than the other countriesI mean as I mentioned before I havent noticed any other nation to want medical insurance upon arrival.
Maybe the next thing you should do is to check on internet about prices and benefits of medical insurances. Im sure that it wont cost too much. After all I think that everyone should have this type of insurance no matter if you are going to Czech Republic or not. As far as I remember my friend told me that it is good to make a medical insurance and to take a proof everywhere with you since anything can happen. It is really uncomfortable to get ill abroad. If you dont have this type of insurance you may have some serious problems so my personal advice is to get one as soon as possible especially if you are going to CZ these weeks. Even if you are not requested to show a proof of medical insurance do it for your good. Unfortunately I cant give you a hundred percent guarantee if it is necessary to have insurance but I think it is better to have one in order to prevent troubles. Good luck and I hope Ive helped!
